We made our goal of 1,000 pairs of footwear!!!!

Scouts, Scouters, Parents, Principals and Everyone Who Donated:

Last night (11/2/2005) at our Troop Meeting the entire Troop pitched in and sorted, disinfected (gently worn shoes, only), and boxed up our last load of footwear and socks.  Our tally last night, thanks to inventory kept by Elizabeth Hillis was 213 pairs of footwear (new & used):

Hence, our grand total collected for the project stands at:

1,086 pairs of new or gently used shoes, boots, sneakers, hiking boots, sandals, etc. and 1 pair of brand new children's ice skates.  We also collected over 230 pairs of new socks.

We sent 130 pairs of shoes and 40 pairs of socks the 1st week of our project through St. Isidore Catholic Church in Danville to Houston, TX.  So, that means we'll be shipping 956 pairs of shoes and 194 pairs of new socks to THE EXTRA MILE in Pineville, LA!

Our shipment consists of approximately 45 boxes (16 1/2" x 19 1/2" x 16 1/2").  The shoes will be shipped by Merit Logistics (Kevin Scherer, Owner, and Eagle Scout) in Hayward.  Tom Brock has obtained the use of a truck and he and Steve Tom will take the boxes from my garage to Hayward this Thurs.

Thank you everyone.  This was a job well done for a very good cause.

Yours in Scouting,

-Dennis-
