My project was performed over a
two and a half week period in March 2009. I received
overwhelming support from Scouts, adult leaders and church members.
On the first work day, March 7, thirty-three volunteers dug and built forms. On the second work day,
March 21, forty volunteers poured and finished 3.75 yards of concrete. In addition to the volunteers that helped with the physical work, Scouts,
church members and neighbors loaned 15 wheelbarrows, which helped tremendously in reducing the time needed for
the concrete truck.
The project took 346 hours to complete. The concrete sidewalk provides the children at the
Resurrection Lutheran Church Child Development Center with another play surface in addition to its
functionality of keeping the sandbox in place and the sand contained.
