 Troop 874 Adult Leadership Positions 

Position 

Main Duties 

Incumbent 

·         Scoutmaster 

§         works with other functions to coordinate the “boy” part of the program 

§         oversees troop meetings 

§         conducts PLC meetings 

§         attends outings 

§         attends summer camp 

§         conducts Scoutmaster conferences 

§         encourages advancement 

§         attends BSA District Roundtable 

  

·         Assistant Scoutmaster(s) 

§         works with Scoutmaster to coordinate the “boy” part of the program 

§         assists with troop meetings 

§         attends PLC meetings 

§         attends outings 

§         attends summer camp with, or in absence of, Scoutmaster 

§         conducts Scoutmaster conferences 

§         encourages advancement 

  

·         Committee Chairman 

§         works with Scoutmaster and other positions to coordinate the “adult” part of the troop 

§         conducts monthly parent meetings 

§         ensures key committee and other positions are filled 

§         completes annual troop registration 

§         attends BSA District Roundtable 

§         approves Tour Permits 

  

·         Treasurer 

§         prepares and presents monthly financial position to parents 

§         reimburses out-of-pocket expenditures 

§         recommends up-coming troop dues amount 

§         ensures collection of dues 

§         collects receipts for campouts and other events

 

 

  

·         Advancement Chairman 

§         maintains records of Scout Advancement 

§         completes BSA forms for advancement 

§         picks up awards, patches, etc. at BSA Council 

§         calls a Board of Review as necessary 

§         coordinates Courts of Honor 

  

·         Outdoor Coordinator 

§         attends PLC meetings to solicit ideas on outings 

§         makes reservations for outings 

§         prepares and collects permission slips  

§         prepares and gets approvals for Tour Permits 

  

·         Transportation Coordinator 

§         works with the Outdoor Coordinator to determine need for drivers 

§         coordinates drivers, including getting driver information for the Tour Permit 

  

·         Newsletter Editor 

§         obtains information from monthly parent meetings and other contact with Troop leaders, chairmen and coordinators 

§         publishes and mails out monthly newsletter 

  

·         Fundraising Coordinator 

§         coordinates troop fundraisers, such as 4th July booth and Christmas tree pickup 

  

·         Recruitment Coordinator 

§         coordinates annual recruitment drive at local elementary schools 

§         coordinates with the Scoutmaster bridge-crossing for 2nd year Webelos 

  

·         Friends of Scouting Coordinator 

§         coordinates annual Council solicitation for donations from parents 

§         makes presentation at Parent Meeting 

§         collects contributions 

§         maintains records

 

 

  

·         Scouting for Food Coordinator 

§         coordinates annual food drive in November 

§         attends District Roundtable to obtain maps of solicitation area 

§         coordinates Scout volunteers in picking up and delivering food donations 

  

·         Wolfeboro Coordinator  

§         makes reservations 

§         obtains packets from Council 

§         distributes information, including necessary permission forms and health forms, to Scouts 

§         collects permission forms and health forms 

§         makes roster of boys attending 

§         works with Transportation Coordinator for necessary transportation of Scouts and equipment 

§         promotes summer camp at Troop meetings 

§         works as needed with Wolfeboro Assistant 

§         may attend although not necessary 

  

·         Wolfeboro Assistant(s)  

§         works with Wolfeboro Coordinator on roster, permits, etc. 

§         attends week-long summer camp (may be part-time or shared) 

§         maintain safety of the boys 

§         provide advice on activities 

§         ensure participation of the Scouts throughout the week 

§         obtain advancement records to give to the Advancement Chairman 

§         ensure the boys have fun in a safe manner 

§         acts as an adult advisor, and does not need to conduct any Scout skill activities
